Legislative Issues
The Oklahoma Private School Association (OPSA) believes in and supports Oklahoma and Federal postsecondary
education policies that reflect the transforming workforce of Oklahoma
and that provide the best possible opportunities for individuals to empower
themselves through education and meaningful employment.
Legislative issues we are currently pursuing/support include:
OKLAHOMA
State Investment in Postsecondary Education:
* Opening the door to Private Postsecondary Schools to OHLAP funds. * Pursuing educational lottery funds for Private Postsecondary Schools.
Equalizing Postsecondary Education in Oklahoma
* Increase Transferability of Credit between OK Postsecondary Schools. * Having equal accountability for all Oklahoma Postsecondary Schools.
FEDERAL
* Increasing Federal Investment in Postsecondary Education * Creating an equal playing field for Transfer of Credit * Vanishing or equalizing the 90/10 rule * Institutional Accountability * Creation of a single definition of Higher Education Institution * Improvements to Workforce Investment Act (WIA) o higher funding of Individual Training Accounts o easier accessibility of Individual Training Accounts o localization of identifying elegible training providers
* Support of the Technology Retraining and Investment Now Act (TRAIN) o provides tax
credit for information and communications training
